Why Only 5% of Indians Invest in Equities — And Why That Must Change
This topic has been talked about a lot. But its worthy of a re-highlight.
Our Indian Equity Markets have given more than 12% CAGR returns p.a. since inception even when FII holdings are at the lowest and only 5% of India invests in Equities. Imagine what will happen if this number rises to even 10%.
I feel lot of people are sitting on the fence. There are more people saying that they invest in equities VS those who actually invest in equities. It’s like meditation, lot of people say they meditate but few very actually do. Even if people sitting on fence start to move their savings into equity markets, imagine what impact it would create.
I want you to think of the closest 5 friends of yours and check how many of them invest and more importantly how much quantum do they invest. You will find that most of us are on the fence.
Imagine the impact if even a fraction of the $11.1 trillion in assets moved into equities. It would be a great story for India, driving further growth and prosperity for the nation as a whole.
It’s time to rethink. The India story is bright, and investing in equities is a chance to own a part of that future. Start small, learn, and trust the process — because the real risk is missing out.
