He Wasn’t Impressed, Until I Told Him the Secret
A second-generation young investor came to our office.
He spent three days with me, saw the office, met my teammates, studied our trading and investment strategy, and asked 100 questions.
Somehow, he wasn’t impressed. I was very intrigued and asked him, “What’s the matter? You don’t seem happy with our meeting. Is there anything I need to improve?”
He said, “Saumil, I loved your team’s culture, I loved your office. I studied your investment and trading style as well, but there’s no secret to this. Anybody can do it. What’s the secret?”
I replied, “Sir, forget business for a moment. What’s the secret to being fit? Everyone knows what to do to be fit, but how many people actually do it? Even if you put hoardings across Mumbai and display the SECRET to fitness, people still won’t do it. It’s not big talk, it’s not planning, it’s the EXECUTION.”
The secret is consistency.
The secret is fundamentals over fads.
The secret is progress over perfection.
